What affects the cost?
- Material: options include Emax ceramic, zirconia, porcelain-fused-to-metal and gold. Gold crown fees can vary with the price of gold.
- Preparatory treatment: some teeth need a core build-up or root canal treatment first.
- Examination and X-rays.
- Single-visit or two-visit crowns: at North Ryde Dentistry, some ceramic crowns can be made in the practice and fitted the same day; others are made by a laboratory with a temporary crown in between.
Health fund cover
Many extras policies contribute to crowns, but benefits vary. Check with your fund using the item numbers on your written quote.

Often, yes. CEREC crowns are designed and milled in the practice, so many can be fitted in a single appointment. Your dentist will confirm whether it suits your tooth.
