Dental Veneers North Ryde and Macquarie Park

Unlike a small section of the population who are blessed with the Hollywood smile, our teeth come in all different shapes, sizes and colours. Sometimes this is a good thing, our smile is distinguishable. But there are times where having a ‘distinguishable’ smile is not so good.

What do I mean by this? Childhood accidents that lead to a front tooth chipping, accidentally biting into a fork too hard on a night out, childhood illnesses that had caused the teeth to naturally develop darker, a history of a lot of front fillings, missing teeth, uneven teeth and a whole host more reasons could be why your smile is just not where you want it to be.

Sometimes, it could be simply that your smile just does not suit your preference. And when regular dental cleaning and polish does not remove the stains or when teeth whitening cannot achieve the colour that you want, dentistry has produced a solution to these aesthetic concerns in the form of dental veneers.

We provide high quality dental veneers here in Macquarie Park at an affordable rate.

Dental veneers as a treatment is when a façade, made from porcelain or composite resin, is placed over the natural tooth after some minor shaving. The façade is designed to an individual’s preference of what they like their smile to be, from the shape, colour and size. Veneers allows you to curate your smile in a healthy and safe way.

Veneers are a facing that is placed in the front of the existing teeth to mask or improve what is already there. In society today there is an increasing emphasis on out outward appearance and this can directly affect our personal as well as our professional lives

Payment Plan Available:

Composite Veneers: Interest free payment plan from $30/week

Veneers cost Sydney can vary a lot depending on the material used, how many teeth and the expertise of the dentist.

Having dental veneers done is an expensive treatment, and we understand that. We do have bundles and payment plans set up around this treatment plan to make it manageable for our patients, so please don’t hesitate to contact us at North Ryde Dentistry to learn more.

The porcelain veneers Sydney are known to resist stains much better than the veneer made from resin material. It is also known to mimic better the natural light reflection property of the teeth. Resin veneer on the other hand is considered to be thinner and it requires less removal of the teeth’s surface before it is placed

Veneers have become the popular choice for those wishing to update their smile. There are a number of reasons for wanting to use veneers to improve the smile:

  • Minor misalignment of teeth
  • Rotated teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Short teeth
  • Worn teeth

What are the different types of veneers?

  • Porcelain/Ceramic

Typically porcelain veneers are the most popular due to their durability and their ability to maintain the tooth like characterisation. The colour/shade of porcelain veneers are practically infinite ranging from natural tooth coloured all the way to a Hollywood bleach white. If maintained well there is no reason why porcelain veneers cannot last for 10 years or more

Before and after:

Braces placed overseas. Patient moved to Australia. After braces were removed, teeth were discoloured and decay was evident. Improved with porcelain veneers.

  • Composite Resin Veneers

Composite resin veneers are the more economical alternative to porcelain veneers. In a lot of instances, a similar result can be obtained from using this material compared to porcelain. Composite veneers Sydney are made of the same durable and white material that we typically use for fillings.

The main advantage of using composite veneers apart from the being the cost effective option is that composite veneers have the ability to be quickly placed. As with any dental filling there may be times that there is a need to maintain them.

Aside from the fact that they give you the look of natural teeth, they are also stain resistant. With porcelain veneer, you may choose the colour of the teeth. This can make the teeth appear whiter. Gum tissue is also known to tolerate veneer much. What’s great with veneers is that they can change the colour and shape of the teeth without too much reshaping that is required with crowns.

Veneers are irreversible and they cannot be repaired once they crack or chip off. Your teeth may also be more sensitive to hot or cold beverages and food since the enamel has been removed. They can also be expensive to have and they are reversible and most likely will not match the colour of your teeth. Hence it is advisable that you undergo teeth whitening first (if you want to) before you get yourself veneers. It is not advisable that you chew on hard objects even though it may not likely dislodge or fall off. The teeth may still decay and there are instances when a full crown is necessary to cover it. Veneers are also not good for those that have decaying teeth, weakened teeth, and those that don’t have sufficient amount of tooth enamel. Those people who are fond of grinding or clenching their teeth are also not meant to have veneers since these activities can crack or chip off the veneers.

You can use veneers for 5 to 10 years and after that you need to have them replaced.

Special care is not necessary for veneers. However, dentists recommend that you continue with daily good dental hygiene which consists brushing twice daily at least and flossing. Veneers are stain resistant but dentists recommend staying away from stain-causing foods and beverages.

Veneers at North Ryde Dentistry can achieve both types of smile. At our practice, most of our veneer smiles are designed to appear more natural and can be achieved within 1 – 2 visits.

We encourage you to have an honest and open conversation with your dentist about what you would like to be improved and from there we can model the veneers to it.

The consultation appointment for veneers is really for us to understand your vision of your smile and for us to see how we can achieve that. This means that it will be a lengthy appointment where we will be talking about, shape, size, colour and how many teeth will need the treatment.

The veneers consultation appointment at North Ryde Dentistry would involve some photos taken, and x-rays as well for us to understand the current condition of your teeth.

Most people are eligible for veneers if they can maintain good oral hygiene for their natural teeth and for the veneers. The reasons why we are concerned about good oral hygiene is that like natural teeth, veneered teeth are also susceptible to dental decay and gum disease.

In addition to this, if there are underlying issues with your current oral health before the veneers are placed then it must be addressed prior to the treatment. This is to ensure that there is a health foundation before the veneers are placed.

Regarding ‘crooked teeth’, depending on the misalignment and how many teeth are involved then sometimes veneers can still be an option. It will mean that a lot more tooth structure will be shaved down for the misaligned teeth to appear aligned.

Sometimes we will advise getting Invisalign or braces first before the veneers to avoid shaving too much tooth structure. Overall, it can get complicated so we highly encourage that on the first initial consultation to ask as many questions as you can with our dentists at North Ryde Dentistry.
