Many people only see a dentist when something hurts. Regular visits, often about every six months or as your dentist recommends, have real benefits.
1. Problems can be found early
At a check-up, your dentist examines your teeth, gums, tongue, soft tissues and jaws, checking for decay, gum disease, alignment problems, grinding and early signs of oral cancer.
2. Treatment is often simpler
Decay tends to progress if left untreated. A small cavity found early can usually be treated with a filling, whereas a large one may need root canal treatment or a crown.
3. Support for home care
Your dentist or hygienist can show you brushing and cleaning techniques that suit your mouth, and a professional clean removes tartar that brushing cannot.
If it has been a while since your last visit, contact North Ryde Dentistry in Macquarie Park to book a check-up.
