Dental implants are a significant investment, so it helps to understand what makes up the cost before you begin.

What affects the cost?
- The implant, abutment and crown.
- Planning: X-rays and 3D scans.
- Additional procedures: extractions, bone grafting or sinus procedures.
- The number of implants and the type of restoration.
- Follow-up appointments during healing.
What should your quote include?
Ask for an itemised written quote showing each stage, so you know what is and is not included and can compare fairly.
Crowns made in the practice
Some implant crowns can be designed and milled in the practice using CAD/CAM technology (such as CEREC), with fit, bite and appearance checked during treatment.
Payment options
See our Dental Implant Package page for current details and terms, and our payment plans for eligible patients. Some health funds contribute to implants; check your cover.
The procedure
Treatment involves assessment, surgical placement under local anaesthetic, several months of healing and fitting of the crown. Read more about the implant procedure.
Long-term costs and risks
Implants need ongoing care and review, and the implant or crown may need repair or replacement. Surgical risks include infection, nerve injury and implant failure.
