- Material: porcelain veneers are made by a laboratory or milled and usually cost more per tooth than composite veneers, which are built up directly on the tooth.
- Number of teeth: the total depends on how many teeth are treated.
- Treatment needed first: decay, gum disease or bite problems need to be addressed before veneers are placed, and some people are advised to have orthodontic treatment first.
- Planning: photographs, X-rays, scans and mock-ups may be part of the process.
- Maintenance: veneers can chip or come off and will eventually need replacement, which is a future cost to plan for.
